Fash Read - Bernard Rudofsky

In the mid 1940's Bernard Rudofsky created the fashion forward line of beyond creative leather sandals. At the time the concept was considered revolutionary and soon everyone from Jane Birkin to Twiggy to everyone's favorite first lady Jackie O were spotted in them. "Footwear without tears" was a brand new concept and the Austrain born provocateur was the man behind the sensation. His background in architecture aided in the design and construction of his sandals. Rudofsky believed in comfort, but not at the expense of style. His ultra sensible airy designs with casual cutting edge details such as the buttonlike toe tops were often worn in fashion shoots and runways. Jackie O has even said she owned 16 colors in her favorite thong sandals.
Dennis Comeau, who's been overseeing the designs shared with Elle "the incredible thing about Bernardos is that you could take one from 1955, 1965, or 1970 and put it on a shelf at Bergdorf Goodman now, and it will look exactly like today's sandals."

This spring they plan on putting this theory to the test with the launch of Bernado Vintage Couture, a capsule collection of 14 of its most celebrated styles. The capsule will include the haute-hippie Jingle Bells and iconic Button. Each design will be maticluously recreated from the oringal pieces and old photographs.

You can find these desings availble now for $195 - 375. Check out the artical in the April 2011 issue of Elle magazine to find out where you can pick up a pair. And check out their website to see more of the incredible designs, Bernardo Vintage Couture.

Something Extra: If you wanna know more about the life and work of Bernard Rudofsky check out this video. It shows some of his amazing archetectural work as well as his cutting edge sandal designs which were even on exhibit at the Getty Center here in Los Angeles.

Carpet Fash - Real Housewives

Wednesday night some of my favorite housewives stepped out at the Bravo Media 2011 Upfront Presentation. Without question Bravo's Beverly Hills addition to the housewives franchise is my favorite thus far and Wednesday night they certainly all brought the fabulous. Of course the also posh Lisa Vanderpump showed up with her uber adorable puppy, Giggy. The ladies put speculation of Grammer's departure from the show's second season to rest. Fan fave, Kyle Richards looked simply stunning in her green empire waist dress and OC wife, Alexis Bellino rocked a burgundy Herve Leger with a major bib necklace! Unfortunately my least favorite look of the night would have to be Vicki Gunvalson. Her dress is an odd length and her body is lost in all of the material. Do I even need to mention the obvious missing undergarment? Below are the Beverly Hills and Orange County housewives in all their fashionable glory. Which look are you loving the most?

Something Extra: Check out this video of Beverly Hills Housewife, Kyle Richards talking about her extreme shoe obsession. I can vouch for her love of shoes, I actually ran into her a few months ago shopping at an Aldo shoe store with her two daughters!

Fash Fave: Blake Lively

Gossip Girl leading lady Blake Lively turned heads in Dolce & Gabbana on Thursday night when she arrived at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote her upcoming action flick, The Green Lantern. She stepped out in a lace and silk dress paired with a white blazer which oozes sophistication and elegance. This was one of my favorite looks on the D & G runway for Spring... so glad it's finally getting some attention! I'm dying over the tan ankle booties as well, glad to see her add some style with a subtlety colored shoe. The choice of the all white ensemble gives a relaxed and romantic vibe. The perfect look to accept her award for Breakthrough Performer of the year. 2010 was a massive year for the charismatic blonde, but I'm guessing 2011 is going to be even bigger. Blake has been popping up on everyone's best dressed list and this outfit is no exception. For the second time this month, my pick for Fash Fave is the always classic Blake Lively. Are you loving Blake's white look?

Something Extra: Check out Blake's Chanel Mademoiselle ad campaign. The campaign has been creating quite the buzz among Chanel workers who feel that Blake is too “all American” to be the face of their brand. Sources say that Karl Lagerfeld loves Blake so much he's willing to fire anyone who wants to question his decision to make Blake the face of their ad. Karl even shot the ad campaign himself. Check out the video below to see behind the scenes footage. See it for yourself… What’s your opinion?

Fash Fail - Ellen Pompeo

Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo stepped out in Beverly Hills on Wednesday in an extreme purple spandex cutout number that I'm still trying to wrap my head around. I’m fully aware she was leaving the gym and not strolling Robertson, but I cannot get past these outrageous cut outs and the obnoxious purple color. Did she raid Tara Reid's closet before burning calories? Her body is incredible, especially having just gave birth to daughter Stella only six months ago, but this outfit is getting her attention for all the wrong reasons.  Sorry Ellen, but next time you hit the gym try some black spandex pants with a bright colored top or even a sports bra. Are you hating the cutouts too?

Fabulous Friday - McQueen Clutches

Happy Friday everyone! My pick for Fabulous Friday this week is the seriously fierce Alexander McQueen clutches that I've been crushing on for months. These truly are bags to obsess over through out your day and dream about at night. I die for the knuckle-duster clutches. Anyone who can combine cocktail rings and a handbag, has my love for life. The detail and craftsmanship that each bag displays is a true work of art and the perfect example of the genius that was McQueen. I love the rough textiles and the brands signature skull detail. My favorite piece from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection is the gold leaf clutch, which honestly should be displayed somewhere in an art museum. One of these brilliant creations could set you back as much as $2,595. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Kendra Wilenson, Stephanie Pratt and Audrina Patridge are all in serious relationships with McQueen's clutches. The fashion world was devastated with the passing of Alexander McQueen but it seems the legacy has overcome the fashion fatality. I’m so happy to see that the house of McQueen is still feeding us breathtaking pieces. Are you dying for one of these bags?
