After covering the Vogue March issue, Lady Gaga is now covering the May issue of the Harper's Bazaar magazine which is set to hit the newsstands on April 26. Combining eccentricity with elegance, the diva manages to be as surprising as always in the photo shoot lensed by Terry Richardson.
Sporting an interesting new look that includes bones that protrude from various body areas, the 25 year old star does her best to explain this unusual choice: "Well, first of all, they’re not prosthetics. They’re my bones. They’ve always been inside of me, but I have been waiting for the right time to reveal to the universe who I truly am. They come out when I'm inspired."
The eccentric singer goes on to explain that she is by no means trying to encourage her fans to experiment with body modifications: "It’s a performance-art piece. I have never, ever encouraged my fans or anyone to harm themselves, nor do I romanticize masochism. Body modification is part of the overarching analysis of 'Born This Way'. But my fans know me. They would never hurt themselves. And if they have hurt themselves, they come to me and say, 'Gaga, I want to stop, and your music helps me want to stop. Your music makes me want to love myself.' I am in no way promoting sadomasochism or masochism."

On the subject of plastic surgery, the diva readily expresses her refusal to engage in such practices giving a few reasons for her attitude as well by making a comparison with body modification:
"I have never had plastic surgery, and there are many pop singers who have. I think that promoting insecurity in the form of plastic surgery is infinitely more harmful than an artistic expression related to body modification. And how many models and actresses do you see on magazine covers who have brand-new faces and have had plastic surgery, while I myself have never had any plastic surgery? I am an artist, and I have the ability and the free will to choose the way the world will envision me."
Gaga also reveals how the Hollywood allure eventually impacted her: "I had all these No. 1 records, and I had sold all these albums, and it was sort of this turning point: Am I going to try and embrace Hollywood and assimilate to that culture?" she remembers thinking. However, despite being drawn to this popular culture she eventually realized that her personality is not tailored for such a lifestyle: "I ran furiously back to New York, to my old apartment, and I hung out with my friends, and I went to the same bars.

Despite the fact that she has so many fans and so much media attention, some of her comments seem to point out the fact that she indeed thinks people want her to fail: "You can quote me on this: People love you when they think you won’t be around for very long, and people hate you when they can’t get rid of you. But I’m not going anywhere."
Judging by the latest photos with an obvious goth inspiration, which unquestionably flatter her and a few other surprising style choices that can be spotted inside the latest issue of the magazine, it becomes crystal clear that she has a lot more in store for her "little monsters" and that her creativity is still as abundant as always.
