This Easter weekend I found a few seconds to slip away to the movies to see the beautifully shot, Water for Elephants. My screenwriter fiancée read the script a little over a year ago and has been raving about it ever since. I'm please to report that expectations were high and gladly met. I absolutely loved the spectacular 30’s circus flick. Stars Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon were incredible choices and played the parts superbly. I should add that I’ve never seen Twilight, so I had no preconceived notion about this "Pattinson film" before going. As the romantic drama played out I wasn't sure what I was loving more, the movie or the fashion. The crowds were filled with gorgeous cloches and Reese dazzled in her numerous stunning satin gowns. Jacqueline West was the incredible costume designer behind the breathtaking looks featured in and out of the circus ring. The ultra talented West also put her styling touch on The Social Network and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. While styling Water for Elephants Jacqueline shared, “From the beginning, I had Reese watching ’30s films. Women tucked their hips under in the 30s. Their bodies became this almost concave curve.” One of my favorite looks in the movie was inspired by a glittery Greta Grabo number which was featured in Meta Hari.
