Bride Expo

For the past week my fiance has been working long hours on the set of Chelsea Lately raving about how sweet and hilarious the cast and crew is. Having scored free tickets to a wedding expo in Pasadena for the weekend I thought I'd have to do some convincing to get him to tag along. Surprisingly he was totally game. Then again, if I got to meet James Marsden and Chelsea Handler all in one week you could probably convince me to jump aboard the Titanic. With my partner in crime on board, I decided this was the perfect opportunity to wear my new Splendid polka dot top and black Kensie skirt. Lately, I've been too busy to do any wedding planning so I figured this would be a great time for Justin and I to get a little inspiration outside of my three binders already crammed with ideas. The convention was overflowing with sugary stations, fashion shows, hair stylist, and all things wedding related. The majority of our time was spent with all of the travel agents handing out hundreds of magazines and packets filled with tropical and adventurous honeymoon ideas. With all of the little details running through our heads, the honeymoon has somehow slipped to the back burner... until now that is. After speaking with several agents I'm convinced I want to go to Egypt, but persuading my beach loving fiance may be difficult. Yes, the Nile River may not be Tahiti but what's wrong with thinking outside the box? Later in the day we stopped for lunch at an adorable little cafe called Camilles where I had a seriously delicious Veginini, which the menu described as a vegetarian panini. Afterwards I was able to squeeze in a little shopping before heading back to Hollywood. What were you guys up to this weekend?

Bridesmaids and Groomsmens Gifts

I have been dying to share our bridesmaids and groomsmens gifts with you guys. My fiancĂ© and I really wanted to come up with a cute and creative way to ask our bridal party to be a part of our wedding. If you're a loyal follower of Fash Boulevard then you already know I have a major obsession with the beyond talented Brittany Fuson’s insanely amazing drawings. So when the idea to have Brittany do a custom drawing of my four bridesmaids popped into my head, I knew it was the ultra perfect approach. “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and “Will you be my maid of honor?” was hand written at the top of each stunning portrait. I was absolutely dying to give the gifts to the girls and as I hoped, they all totally loved the surprise. Oh ya, and they all said, “yes!” For the groomsmen my fiancĂ© had personalized shot glasses made with “Groomsman?” written on the side. He also gave them a small bottle of liquor to appropriately accompany the glasses. I've been waiting with bated breath to reveal the gifts to you all. I hope that you love it as much as we do. Below are more pictures of the gifts as well as pictures from when I gave the gifts to my beautiful bridal party. If you guys love the custom drawings that Brittany Fuson did for me then you should definitely stop by her blog and website. She has some amazing products for sell and she can also do custom drawings for your special event! xoxo

Mad Hatter Engagement Party

My fiance Justin and I recently threw a Mad Hatter themed engagement party with thirty four of our closest friends from back home. Because we live in LA, my family lives in Alabama, and our friends live in Florida, we decided it would be easier on everyone else if we threw the party ourselves. Plus the real point of this party was to honor our friends and ask them to be in our wedding party. The night was beyond epic and surpassed all of our expectations. The goal was to have everyone show up in a super creative hat that would turn heads and no one disappointed. I literally spent two months dreaming and conceptualizing the ideal fascinator to wear and then built it in a quick 20 minutes. Let's just say I have spent more time at Michael's craft supply store then one should in their entire life time. When it came to the decorations, I made giant speech bubbles with quotes from the movie, as well as large colorful clocks, mushrooms, direction signs, and massively over sized tea cups to line the walls. Oh, did I mention we had a ball pit? Throughout high school and college my fiance and I threw a large number of extreme themed parties so we figured a ball pit was completely appropriate, plus it was our spin on the rabbit hole to Wonderland. Behind the ball pit we hung brightly colored paper plates which we hung with fishing line for some additional visual chaos. You may raise a brow at the door in the middle of the living room, but let me explain... at my 21st "Legally Blonde" birthday party somehow the bathroom door came off its hinges and sparked a picture taking frenzy. Since then, its been a fun and entertaining tradition. At the party I chose to wear a super bright strapless Rachel Roy dress that I paired with Alice in Wonderland inspired double platform Mary Jane pumps. As for the hat, I built my fascinator out of styrofoam and decorative purple foliage. I wanted to be super colorful to match the decorations so I added orange flowers for that extra pop. During the party we asked the bridesmaids and groomsmen to be in our wedding. Stop back by Fash Boulevard tomorrow to find out the creative approach we took to asking them and see pictures of the gifts we gave. Below are more pictures of our Mad Hatter madness.

Something extra: Below are a few pictures of the decorations and the making of my fascinator.

Fabulous Friday - I Found My Dress

This past weekend was a major moment for me! My mom, sister and I drove to Atlanta to visit Bridals by Lori which you may recognize as the location where they film Say Yes To The Dress Atlanta on TLC! No, you won't be seeing me on the next episode, though they tried desperately to get me to agree. I decided to bypass the opportunity for now. This was the first time I was wedding dress shopping and I wanted to start looking for the perfect style. Plus, I had no idea I'd be finding "the one." Upon walking into Bridals by Lori I was instantly distracted by the fabulous wedding dress sketches by my favorite designers lining the wall. The whole place looked like it had been decorated by Rachel Zoe... It was beyond fabulous!

We were wisked up stairs by the super sweet staff who waited on me hand and foot! I told them I wanted a dress that was fierce and dramatic! Surprisingly they said they've never heard any bride describe their dream dress like that. My seriously amazing consultant let us go around and pull dresses! I was in heaven. After sifting through hundreds of pounds of satin and lace I finally made my decisions which consisted of 12 stunning dresses. The first dress I tried on was seriously fabulous and beyond poofy. I was crushing on it but my fan club wasn't! I then put on the second dress which was absolute perfection. The second I slipped it on I was in love. After strutting the runway in the dress and somehow attracting almost every consultant in the store I knew this was "the one." In a few minutes Flori Waters and Robin Gibbs (pictured below) had me "jacked up" and looking wedding day ready! They literally gave me an up-do, earrings and my dream veil in 5 seconds!

I decided to try on the rest of my dresses just to see if any other gown could  compete with the dress I was dying over. After quickly rejecting the rest of my selections I decided to slip back into my favorite dress. I just knew... This was the dress of my dreams! Classically dramatic and totally perfect! So long story short I got my wedding dress and veil! I bought them right on the spot! The seriously adorable Robin Gibbs was so sweet and beyond helpful! It's so hard not to gush about all of the dresses tiny faint worthy details, but I really want it to be a surprise. I have no idea how I'll be able to wait until May! If you or any of your friends are looking for a wedding dress I highly suggest going to Bridals by Lori, they are seriously the best! I can't wait until May to show you guys the dress I chose! Xoxo
