Cape Crushing

On a recent shopping trip I spotted this stunning Michael by Michael Kors cape cardigan hidden amongst a sea of fall fashion designs on the return rack in the dressing room. All I could see was the detail on the sleeve. When I pushed the other pieces aside, I was instantly in love. I didn't care how much or what size, I just knew I had to have it in my life. Thankfully all the elements came together and this fabulous piece was all mine. Fash Fact - Michael Kors, the fabulous New York native fashion designer, was actually born Karl Anderson Jr. When he was five years old his mother re-married and gave him the option to change his name since he was originally named after his father. It was this decision that turned Karl Anderson into Michael David Kors. Good choice, Michael. Two Karl's in the fash world would have been an travesty. Today, M. Kors is one of my ultra favorite designers. His pieces are always classic, wearable, and designed to perfection. Inspired by my new purchase, I decided to dress up my cape cardi with an Andrew Charles leopard print dress, brown tights, Forever 21 ankle boots, and my favorite Olivia + Joy handbag. It's pieces like this that make fall my absolute favorite time of year!

Fash Tip - To keep your looks fresh and fun, try pairing bright colored handbags with your fall ensembles to add a splash of unexpected color to your winter naturals.

Seaside Style

On a recent trip to the seriously beautiful Santa Barbara, my fiance and I were able to visit the seaside attractions for some delicious eats and fabulous shopping. To keep warm while enduring the oceanside breeze I decided to pull out my favorite white blazer which I paired with a Bar III dress that I got earlier this summer. I love the scalloped detail at the bottom of this dress, it's simple yet intricate and makes the perfect partner for the blazer. Nautical colors are always chic while dining by the water. I love living in the city but what I love even more is being able to take adventurous day trips along the coast. For this specific mini vaca I pulled my hair into a subtle side ponytail for a semi chic way of keeping my hair out of my face while experiencing the cool costal breeze. Don't get me wrong, I love sipping my daily pumpkin latte but there's just something about soaking up those last few warm rays of sun before winter that is so refreshing. What did you guys do this weekend?

Goodbye Summer Trends

With Fall officially upon us, I thought it would be appropriate to recap some of this summers most fashionable trends. Color blocking, maxi skirts, maxi dresses, wedges, and rompers were major moments for Summer 2011, but my personal favorite trend was the sea of neutrals that swept the fashion world and a large majority of my closet. I love the power and cleanliness that can be achieved with an all neutral ensemble. It was this lighter trend that also provided a fresh escape from all the color blocking that took place this summer. As we say goodbye today, tomorrow will bring a welcomed hello as I reveal some of my ultra favorite trends for Fall as well as some of my must-have items. Which summer trend was your favorite? Click the picture to revisit the post.

Outfit Post - I Heart Skirts

I absolutely love fun and colorful skirts. Incorporating there girly essence into my weekly wardrobe is always a must and with summer strutting to the finish line I'm challenging myself to rock at least half of my skirts before the temperatures dip down into the dreaded legging status. Earlier this week while enjoying a stroll through Hollywood, I wore my favorite blue tiered H&M skirt and a neutrally graphic H&M blouse, which I paired with my nude Rampage pumps and a black clutch. I recently purchased this heart covered blouse while rummaging the racks for the perfect dress to wear to Perez Hilton's party, which you can see here. There was something totally refreshing about the color and print of this blouse that was a nice break from boring solids and over bearing bohemian prints. After a few failed attempts at finding the perfect bottoms to pair it with and being seconds away from banning the shirt into the graveyard section of my closet, I finally spotted its ideal match. Nothing can compete with the chic factor that a blouse and skirt combo can give you. With September around the corner, I urge you to pull out your skirts and rock them while you can before the cool fall breezes force us to bundle up. Below are more pictures! Are you as skirt obsessed as I am?

Something Extra: Check out my favorite skirts available online at Shopbop.com. I'm literally crushing on all of them. Click the picture to shop the look. Which skirt are you dying to own?

Outfit Post - Creative Combos

I simply adore unexpected combos, especially ones that turn out looking like they were totally and completely meant to be. I recently paired my super girly BCBG Max Azria shorts with an edgy Material Girl's crop top for a stroll through Beverly Hills. I topped off the look with my favorite Steve Madden pumps which have been sitting in my closest for almost a year. It's funny how an unexpected eclectic outfit can end up showing off your individual style so superbly. Adding a bright shoe will instantly turn up the wow factor on any outfit and with bright colors and color blocking being such a huge trend this season you pretty much can't go wrong with any color combo. This edgy feminine look is simple to obtain from items in your own closet. Pair a studded top, shoe or purse for a dash of edge with a silky fabric or fun print. Challenge yourself to finally find the perfect outfit to compliment that faint worthy item you've been dying to rock. What's your favorite style combo?

Crushing on Blush

I absolutely love pale pink and blush right now. This is another example of neutrals like I shared with you last week in my trend report. Above I paired my sheer blush top with light pink shorts and gold accessories. I love the subtle tie detail on the top and understated feel of the entire look. To add a little something extra, try incorporating a braid or two into your hair style like I have above. Are you crushing on blush? xoxo
